Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) officially began in New Delhi today! The five day event will feature over 115 designers and will be held at Pragati Maidan, an exhibition space in New Delhi. The event organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is the largest fashion trade event in the country. WIFW is one of two major fashion weeks which are held in India, the other being the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) in Mumbai.
Although, LFW changed their format last year to present current season styles with Summer/ Resort and Winter/Festive collections to be available for immediate order, WIFW will follow their global counterparts and show a season ahead with Spring/Summer 2011 collections making their debut on the runway. And, unlike LFW, which had a strong Bollywood presence, both on and off the runway, WIFW maintains that its focus will be on the business of fashion aimed at providing a global platform to promote Indian fashion by bringing together designers, buyers, editors and the press at one event. To get front row coverage and instant updates from the shows follow the FDCI on Twitter and Facebook.
