This month will see the start of couture week in India, when the country’s best designers will showcase their custom bridal and evening wear. We got a sneak peek yesterday of what we can expect to see this season with Jacqueline Fernandez’s cover for the July/August issue of Harper’s Bazaar Bride. Rather than what one would expect of traditional bridal wear, Jacqueline wore a richly patterned floor length anarkali from designer Manish Arora – a clear departure from the crimson and gold saris and hot pink lehengas of years past. See the rest of Jacqueline’s editorial below.
According to the magazine, “Jacqueline Fernandez was the perfect choice for the cover as someone who’s made her mark in Bollywood with her striking looks and sunny personality. Given the theme of the shoot, we needed someone who could carry off the bold, graphic couture outfits with élan and Jacqueline was just that person. Plus, she’s one of the rare actresses who are open to experimentation when it comes to fashion so was easily able to imbibe the fierceness that was required for the shoot.”
