Fashion, Interrupted

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) got off to a disheartening start when the show, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 24th, was postponed due to the lack of a fire safety permit for the event’s venue. The show was given the go ahead to start on Thursday but all of Wednesday’s shows were canceled and moved to Monday, March 29th. This decision, although appreciated by some, didn’t please all of the designers. Puneet Nanda, designer for Satya Paul, may pull out of the event entirely, citing an inconvenience to buyers and invited guests who were expecting to see the show on opening day. The show was to be a celebration of the label’s 25th anniversary and Nanda had planned on a Day 1 showing to unveil his new collection. The remaining shows, however, are moving forward as planned and with over 130 designers in attendance, it is expected to be the largest fashion week yet.
